What YouTube video formats are supported?

YouTubeToScript supports all public YouTube videos including:

Both youtube.com/watch and youtu.be URL formats are supported.

What languages are supported for transcripts?

Why can't I extract transcript from some videos?

Transcript extraction requires the video to have subtitles or captions available (either auto-generated by YouTube or manually added by the creator).

Common reasons for failure:

  • Video doesn't have any captions/subtitles
  • Creator has disabled captions
  • Video is private or age-restricted
  • Video was recently uploaded (captions may take time to generate)

Can I download transcripts with timestamps?

Yes! You can toggle timestamps on or off using the "Timestamps" button. When enabled, each line of the transcript will include the timestamp showing when that text appears in the video.

How do I copy the transcript?

After extracting the transcript, simply click the "Copy" button above the transcript box. The entire transcript will be copied to your clipboard.

You can also download it as a .txt file using the "Download" button.

What thumbnail sizes can I download?

You can download thumbnails in 4 different sizes:

  • HD Quality: 1280×720 pixels (recommended)
  • SD Quality: 640×480 pixels
  • HQ Quality: 480×360 pixels
  • MQ Quality: 320×180 pixels

We recommend HD quality for best results, especially for social media and presentations.

Does it work with YouTube Shorts?

Yes, YouTubeToScript fully supports YouTube Shorts. You can extract transcripts and download thumbnails from Shorts just like regular videos.

Simply paste the Shorts URL (youtube.com/shorts/...) and click Extract.
